Executive Leadership

Bill Whitelaw

Bill Whitelaw, chief executive officer of JWN Energy, joined the company in 2002. He has expanded the company’s product portfolio, developed new frontiers within the industry and ensured JWN remains progressive and industry-focused through the products and services it for provides for insight and intelligence. Bill also holds positions of executive vice-president, business information group, at Glacier Inc. and managing director of Evaluate Energy, an affiliated energy analytics and research company based in London, UK. Bill is a director on many industry sector boards, including the Canadian Heavy Oil Association, the Canadian Society for Unconventional Resources and the Canadian Petroleum Hall of Fame. He speaks frequently on the subjects of social licence, innovation and technology and energy supply chain. Bill has a journalism diploma from Loyalist College, a BA from Queen’s University and an MCS in communication studies from the University of Calgary.

Bemal Mehta

Bemal Mehta, senior vice-president, energy intelligence, of JWN Energy, leads the group’s efforts in the areas of analytics, business intelligence, product development, and operational and strategic insight. He has over 20 years of experience across multiple industries, including oil and gas, petrochemicals, consulting and telecommunications. He brings a breadth of experience in the areas of business strategy, analytics, operational excellence, supply chain management, marketing and sales effectiveness. Bemal is a professional engineer with a B.Sc. and an M.Sc. in chemical engineering from the University of Alberta and an MBA from Queen’s University. He is also a director with the Canadian Obesity Network. Bemal is married with two children and enjoys core training, cycling and yoga.

Gord Lindenberg

Gord Lindenberg, vice-president, digital strategies, heads up information services within JWN Energy and is responsible for digital strategies transforming the business. Before joining the company in 2004, he gained 13 years of marketing and sales experience with information companies such as Amdahl, Oracle and Ariba and a broad scope of hands-on experience ranging from applications development to network management. Gord has a B.Sc. in computer science from the University of Manitoba and an MBA from Athabasca University. He is married with three grown children and is very active in the community, enjoying golf, hiking, boarding and curling.

Stephen Marsters

Stephen Marsters, director of the Daily Oil Bulletin & Data, joined JWN Energy in 1997 as a reporter for the Daily Oil Bulletin. He took over as editor for New Technology Magazine the following year, eventually becoming publisher of New Technology Magazine and editorial director for the JWN set of products. Stephen has a B.Sc. in geology and biology from Dalhousie University, an M.Sc. in earth sciences from the University of Waterloo and an MA in journalism from the University of Western Ontario.
