
The Daily Oil Bulletin generates several reports on licences that provide insight on upcoming drilling trends in Western Canada.

Here are three key insight based on this dataset, for the period July-to-September 2020:
- On a percentage basis, zone BC2 (Northern British Columbia) reported the smallest decline. There were 147 new wells permitted in the July-to-September period, down from 166 a year ago, a decrease of 11 per cent.
- In Q3, the licence counts were highest in BC2 and AB2 (Foothills Front), with 147 and 139 new wells permitted, respectively.
- The largest percentage change happened in AB3 (Southeastern Alberta), where only seven new wells were licensed in Q3 compared to 119 a year ago (down 94 per cent).
