Celebrate the best in energy with the DOB’s Energy Excellence Awards

BlueSource Methane ULC. was named the champion in the Industry Accelerators subcategory in 2019.

The deadline for the second annual DOB Energy Excellence Awards is quickly approaching.

Last year the DOB launched its inaugural awards program recognizing energy excellence and the collaboration within Canada’s energy industry. The awards focus on project management, environmental performance, supply chain sophistication, community and business collaboration, innovation, research, operations and exporting excellence.

Thirteen champions were named out of more than 90 nominations across the areas of operational and project, innovation and research, and exporting excellence. New this year is the environmental excellence category featuring cleantech subcategories.

Inaugural Energy Excellence Champions

Operational and Project

This category focused on the best projects big and small, and on operational collaborations completed in Canada in 2018.

BlueSource Methane ULC. was named the champion in the Industry Accelerators subcategory. The company was selected for its Bluesource Methane Reduction Program, which assists oil and gas companies to meet provincial and federal methane regulations. Read the story here .

Awarded for its Modern Ultra Low Emissions (MULE) sites, Modern Resources Inc. was named champion in the Oil and Gas category for its technology that aims to reduce methane emissions down to zero. Read the full story here .

Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL) was named champion in the Pipeline and Facilities subcategory. CNRL was selected or its area-based reclamation program. Read more here .

Innovation and Research

This category focuses on the most impactful technologies that moved towards commercialization in 2018, looking at collaboration and industry and business impact.

CleanO2 Carbon Capture Technologies was named champion in the area of Cleantech. The company was selected for its CARBiNX CleanO2, smart wellsite surveillance technology. Read more here .

In the area of Digital Oilfield, Osprey Informatics was named champion for its intelligent visual monitoring platform, Osprey Reach. Read more here .

AMGAS Services Inc. was selected in the Drilling Through Completions category. The company was selected for its CLEAR technology process that allows for the safe and efficient removal of H2S from sour fluids without introducing chemical into the liquids. Read the full story here .

In Power Transmission and Storage, E3 Metals Corp. was named champion for its proprietary extraction technology related to rapid lithium extraction. Read the story here .

Compact Compression Inc. was named the champion for in the Production subcategory for its clean-sheet approach to casing gas compression with its the Hydraulic Casing Gas compressor (HCG). See story here .

Exporting

This category recognizes the most successful Canadian energy exporters of 2018 competing on the global stage.

The champion of the Advanced Technologies category was Blue Spark Energy Inc. The company was selected for its was selected for its Wireline Applied Stimulation Pulsing (WASP) technology, a gas well simulation method. See story here .

Citadel Drilling Ltd. was the champion in the Oilfield Services & Manufacturing subcategory. In 2018, the company was able to establish long-term contract relationships with major E&P operators and executed the preparation and migration of five out its six drilling rigs to the Delaware basin in the Permian.
