The Alberta government is continuing to ease its mandatory oil curtailment.

The province announced on Thursday that the production limit for August has been set at 3.74 million bbls/d, or a curtailment of approximately 150,000 bbls/d.

This comes as rail traffic is picking up, and the light/heavy oil differential is holding relatively steady around US$13/bbl.

Alberta ordered 325,000 bbls/d of oil curtailed in January but subsequently eased this to 250,000 bbls/d for February and March, 225,000 bbls/d for April, 200,000 bbls/d for May and 175,000 bbls/d for June and July.
