Inter Pipeline Ltd. is about one year into construction of the Heartland Petrochemical Complex near Fort Saskatchewan, Alta.

The company expects the project, which will process Alberta propane into polypropylene, to be operational in Q4/2021.

This drone footage by Inter Pipeline from January 9, 2019 includes delivery of a central piece of equipment for the facility, a propylene-propane splitter that weighs over 800 tonnes and will be over 97 metres high when erected.

The $3.5 billion plant has funding from the Alberta government of up to $200 million in royalty credits through the Petrochemicals Diversification Program. Video is courtesy of Inter Pipeline Ltd.
