Here is a list of human resources highlights as appeared in the Daily Oil Bulletin for the week ending March 2, 2018:

New Whitecap board member

Whitecap Resources Inc. has appointed Ken Stickland as chairman of the board of directors. Since 2013, he has served on the company’s board.

Stickland has a strong legal and governance background, along with extensive experience in the energy sector at both the senior executive and board levels.

Newalta and Tervita agree to merge

With Newalta Corporation and Tervita Corporation entering into an agreement to combine their businesses, the existing senior executive team of Tervita will lead the new entity, comprised of John Cooper as president and chief executive officer, Brad Dlouhy as chief operating officer, and Rob Dawson as chief financial officer.

The ‘New Tervita’ board includes Tervita’s current six independent directors — Grant Billing (chairman), Allen Hagerman, Jay Thornton, Cameron Kramer, Doug Ramsay, Kevin Walbridge. Also on the board is Cooper and two current independent directors of Newalta — Gordon Pridham and Susan Riddell Rose. As well, Tervita’s largest shareholder, Michael Colodner from Solus Alternative Asset Management LP, will serve on the board of directors.

Vermilion organizational changes

Curtis Hicks, currently executive vice-president and chief financial officer at Vermilion Energy Inc., will retire in April after 15 years with the company. Lars Glemser, currently director of finance, will succeed Hicks.

Further, Scott Seatter, currently managing director of Vermilion’s Netherlands Business Unit, will be managing director of the United States Business Unit, effective April 1. He replaces Dan Anderson, current managing director of the United States Business Unit, who is retiring.

Vermilion has also promoted Sven Tummers, previously commercial manager for the Netherlands Business Unit, to managing director of the Netherlands Business Unit, replacing Seatter.

Darcy Kerwin, previously managing director for the France Business Unit, will take on the newly-created role of Ireland Business Unit managing director. Sylvain Nothhelfer, previously technical services manager for the France Business Unit, is the new managing director of the France Business Unit, replacing Kerwin.

New COO joins Crew

Crew Energy Inc. has appointed James Taylor as senior vice-president and chief operating officer. He brings 20 years of progressive operational, engineering and management experience

Taylor has worked with both Imperial Oil Limited and Exxon Mobil Corporation in conventional and resource plays across North America. Most recently, he worked in the Duvernay and Montney as vice-president and engineering manager of XTO Canada.
