California-based Petroteq Energy Inc. says it has achieved the first sale of crude from its oilsands mining project in Vernal, Utah.
First oil was produced at the facility this September.
The operation uses a proprietary solvent-based extraction technology that does not require significant water use or tailings ponds.
The company is now working on its goal to deliver oil on a regular basis while ramping production up to nameplate production capacity of 1,000 bbls/d.
Petroteq says it is also “working with several parties” on identifying growth capital for an intended expansion of the operation.
