The first four of 12 crude oil storage tanks at Base Line Terminal in Sherwood Park have been brought into service.

The terminal, a 50/50 joint venture of Kinder Morgan Canada and Keyera, will have total storage of 4.8 million barrels. It is located at Keyera’s Alberta Enviro Fuels Facility.

The facility is capable of sourcing the majority of crude streams handled by Kinder Morgan for a delivery to a number of destinations, including its Trans Mountain Pipeline, its 50 percent-owned Alberta Crude and Edmonton Rail terminals, as well as other Edmonton area facilities and major export pipelines.

The terminal has an expected capital cost of $741 million. It is expected to be phased into full service throughout 2018.
