The biggest oilsands transactions of the last 10 years

The oilsands has been dominating Canadian oil and gas M&A this year, with blockbuster deals including Cenovus Energy's $17.7 billion acquisition of oilsands assets and Deep Basin lands from ConocoPhillips, and Canadian Natural's $12.7-billion purchase of the Athabasca Oil Sands Project from Shell and Marathon, as well as Peace River region properties.

By far those are two of the biggest transactions the oilsands industry has ever seen, but M&A activity in the sector has been strong for several years.

Here's a look at oilsands deals over the last decade with a value of more than $500 million, according to Canoils.
